Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification tests. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam information. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness or hearing or visual impairment, please contact the exam provider directly and make sure to provide a detailed document when you register.
Faculty may find their exam times via the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. Additionally the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes that are held in the evenings are scheduled for the regular class times of the final examination weeks.

Students should therefore inquire with their instructors to confirm the correct time and date of their test. Students should also make sure to print out the official list and bring it for their exams.

Exam locations will do their best to accommodate those with special requirements. The nature and severity of these requirements should be stated on the registration form and verified by a doctor's attestation. In addition, the exam locations must respect confidentiality and be maintained.
If a student is scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they must contact their instructor or department to schedule a retake test. Although it is possible to take three exams in one day, it can result in an increase in stress levels and affect the quality of the exam. Additionally, the professor might not be able to give a makeup exam on another day.
Before taking the test Students must prepare for the exam by reviewing their syllabus and practicing their German skills. The exam is a test on paper that measures the ability to speak, read, and write in German. The results of the examination are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the exam are awarded an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate demonstrates the attainment of the language level A1. This level is the first stage of the six-level scale of competence that is set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students must bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. Students who do not have a valid picture identification will be disqualified.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to be awarded the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you must pay the examination fee. This fee is in addition to the cost of the course.
Practice assessments allow you to get a feel for the style of the test, the language, and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They allow you to assess your knowledge, identify areas of weakness and increase your chances of passing the exam.
It is important to note that the exam fee is not refundable. Exam results can only by emailed and not via telephone.
